Tom Bosworth 6th in Olympic 20k - Dominic King Unfortunately DQ'd in 50k
Tom made a brave effort to win the race and led for a good proportion. Sadly he faded a bit towards the end but still finished a fantastic 6th in 1hr 20mins 13secs - 59 seconds behind the winner.
Well done Tom
As an aside, I think this quote from the pilot who flew round the world in a solar powered plane sums up Tom's performance:
"We have dared to fail and, when you dare to fail you can succeed"
Dominic King was unfortunately DQ'd from Olympic 50k race walk whilst on target for a PB. Commiserations to Dominic, but still an immense achievement to compete at the Olympics.

Congratulations! To Amel, Fabian and young Elissa Deuter upon the arrival on 7th January of Ryan and Lara. It is understood that mum and the twins are doing well and the pleasure expressed on Elissa’s face says it all. The likeable Hillingdon athlete’s time in the opening race of the season was his slowest for a long time but, as in all his races the familiar smile was still to be seen - Well now everyone knows why and on reflection it might even have been broader. Everyone connected with ERWL wishes Amel, Fabian and their family every good wish and a healthy future. 19/01/15 - Francisco Reis wins opening fixture of 2015. Hillingdon AC leading team race.

A few weeks ago Arthur Thomson was referred to ophthalmology because of a problem in his left eye. He saw the ophthalmologist on Thursday 4th December who referred him to the TIA clinic. The upshot was that the left artery in his neck was blocked and he may have been having very minor TIAs over last few months. The great news is that Arthur was discharged from hospital on 23rd December after a successful operation to unblock a carotid artery. His wife Bonita writes, that he was easily the fittest person in Intensive Care! Nothing keeps him down and we would both like to thank you all for your good wishes and offers of support. We found it so helpful to have that. Many thanks and a happy New Year 22/12/14 - Several Enfield Leaguers took part in the Surrey Walking Club 5k at Tonbridge on 20th December.
